Belgrave Cartel
Empanadas, espresso martinis and a laneway courtyard with serious character.
The local take
Cartel started life as a coffee shop and grew into one of Manly's most loved hybrids — café by day, South-American-tinged bar by night, with empanadas and arepas coming out of the kitchen and a courtyard strung with lights out the back. The room is all reclaimed timber and personality; the crowd is locals who've been coming for years.
It ranks in Manly's top ten on TripAdvisor for good reason: the food is genuinely good, the drinks are generous, and the vibe is the opposite of a big-format pub. Perfect for the night that starts with 'just one drink' at six and somehow becomes dinner.
Belgrave Cartel is also in our food guide — see the restaurant page for the kitchen side of the story.
