Privacy Policy

Visit Manly ("we", "us", "our") publishes an independent travel guide to Manly, Sydney at manlysydney.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

We collect two kinds of information:

  • Information you give us — for example when you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message so we can reply.
  • Information collected automatically — when you visit the Site, our hosting provider and analytics tools record your IP address, device and browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies, in two categories. We don't show advertising, so there are no advertising cookies:

  • Essential and preference storage, which makes the Site work — your language choice and your theme. These are set without consent because the Site cannot function correctly without them.
  • Analytics cookies, which in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are set only if you consent to them in the consent message shown on the Site, which is provided by Google. We do not load the analytics script there until you do.

If you follow one of our accommodation booking links to a third-party provider, that provider may set its own cookies to attribute the referral — see Affiliate links below.

In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland you can revisit your choices through the privacy and cookie settings link in Google's consent message. Everywhere else, you can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how readers use the Site — how often people visit, which pages they read, and which sites they arrived from. Google Analytics is consent-gated: the script is not requested and no analytics cookies are set for readers in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland unless they consent in the consent message. If you decline, or simply ignore it, no analytics data is collected.

If you have consented and want to withdraw it, update your choices in the consent message's settings. You can also opt out across all sites via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising

The Site doesn't show ads, and it doesn't run advertising or link-tracking scripts. The only commercial links are the accommodation links described below.

Affiliate links

Some outbound accommodation links are affiliate links. When you click one, the provider (for example Expedia) may set a cookie in your browser so that any booking you go on to make is credited to us, and we receive a commission. That happens on the provider's own website under their privacy policy, not ours, and it costs you nothing extra.

We don't receive your personal information from these partners — only aggregate reporting on referrals and commissions. See our Terms for how affiliate links relate to our editorial choices.

How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
  • To respond to enquiries you send through the contact form;
  • To measure and analyse traffic and reader interest;
  • To attribute referrals to our accommodation partners, where you follow an affiliate link;
  • To comply with applicable law.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers (hosting, email delivery and analytics) who process it on our behalf, and where required by law. We do not pass your personal information to our affiliate partners.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, or the Australian Privacy Act) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information. To make a request, email us at hello@manlysydney.com.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
