The local take
The New Brighton Hotel is at 71 The Corso, near the beach end, and it has been a Manly institution for the better part of a century. Today it's a big, busy pub over four floors of dining, bars and entertainment, looking out towards Manly and Shelly Beach.
It's one of Manly's main live-music pubs, with local acts and bigger bookings through the week, plus sport on the screens. The food is pub classics, and there are spaces you can hire for functions and parties.
It opens from the morning and trades late, until 3am most nights, and it gets louder as the night goes on, especially at weekends. It's a classic Aussie pub rather than a polished one: cold beer, pub food and a band. If that's the plan, it's one of the liveliest nights out on the Corso.
