The Gopher opened in 2026 in the cellar of 40 The Corso, and it imported its personality intact: an Irish-New York basement bar with proper stouts on tap, sharply made cocktails, and live music most nights — acoustic early, full bands from ten. It's walk-in only for now, which keeps the room loose and local.

Manly has needed a genuine late, dark, music-first bar for years, and the Gopher is the most promising answer yet. Squeeze down the stairs, order a stout and a whiskey, and see where the night goes.
