The local take
Seaside Thai Gourmet is a Thai restaurant and bar on Level 1, 33 South Steyne, with a verandah looking straight over Manly Beach. It opened in February 2017, when Sam and Chef Nat left Manly Thai Gourmet to start a more upmarket restaurant with a view.
The menu mixes traditional Thai favourites with Thai-Australian fusion dishes built on fresh, local ingredients. Signatures include the Red Bull salad, chilled watermelon with house-dried salmon and finger lime, and mar hor, caramelised pork and peanut on a pineapple spoon. It's licensed, with cocktails and wine.
It's open every day, for lunch from 11.30am to 4pm and dinner from 5pm to 10pm. Ask for a verandah table at sunset. It also hosts private functions. It's a step up from a takeaway Thai, with one of the better beach views in town.
