The local take
Silo West is a small coffee shop at Shop 6, 54 West Esplanade, right opposite Manly Wharf. It's the younger sibling of Silo Espresso, serving the same Silo coffee along with a few Brazilian-influenced dishes. The old-style shopfront still has its original tiles.
It opens early for the morning commuters, and the food is quick and healthy: nourishing bowls, and an egg and bacon roll on a charcoal bun that regulars love. Reviewers praise the speedy service, the friendly staff and the consistently excellent coffee, including cappuccinos with real chocolate flakes.
There's plenty of outdoor seating where you can watch the ferries come in. It's the obvious coffee stop on the way to or from the boat, and a nice place to sit if you're early for the ferry.
