The local take
Pocket Pizza is a small pizzeria at 46 Pittwater Road, a few minutes' walk north of the Corso. It's styled as a tribute to the old Italian neighbourhood restaurants of New York's Little Italy, with red and white checked tablecloths, lace curtains and neon signs.
The pizzas have playful names and plenty of toppings. Pocket Pizza is especially popular with people who need alternatives: there's a crisp gluten-free base, and vegan cheese on request, which has made it a favourite on vegan and gluten-free guides. Service is quick.
It opens for dinner every night from 5pm. You can eat in or take away, and takeaway works well if you're staying at the north end of the beach. It's a relaxed, inexpensive dinner, and one of the easier options in Manly for a group with mixed dietary needs.
