The local take
Ruby Lane is a wholefoods café with its own grocer attached, at Shops 1 and 2, 200 Pittwater Road, towards the Queenscliff end of Manly. Its aim is healthy food from local, ethically sourced and sustainable produce, and much of what the kitchen cooks with is on the shelves next door to buy.
The café serves breakfast, brunch and lunch. Popular plates include nourish and protein bowls, the beef burger, the Beach Bun and gluten-free focaccia toast, with organic coffee and smoothies. There are plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The grocer stocks organic and sustainable produce, a deli, and cookbooks and healthy-eating guides.
It's open every day from 6.45am to 3pm, so it suits a breakfast after an early swim or a run along the beach. You can book a table or order ahead for pick-up, and Ruby Lane also caters for events and meetings.
