The local take
Manly Eat-Well is a Chinese restaurant at 153 Pittwater Road, towards the Queenscliff end of town, and it has been feeding the neighbourhood for more than 20 years. It's a down-to-earth dining room rather than a destination, and it's fully licensed.
The menu covers the Cantonese-Australian classics: spring rolls, crispy-skin chicken and traditional stir-fries. Diners often recommend the salt and pepper calamari, the three-cup chicken and the crab meat omelette. Serves are generous and prices are fair.
It opens for dinner from Tuesday to Sunday, from 5.30pm, and stays open later on Fridays and Saturdays. It's closed on Mondays. Takeaway is a big part of the trade. It's a good, simple dinner if you're staying at the north end of the beach and don't want to walk back to the Corso.
