Paolo's is a cosy Italian café on a corner at 59 Birkley Road, in the quiet residential streets of Manly away from the beach crowds. Locals come for the strong, reliable coffee and the relaxed atmosphere.
In the mornings it serves coffee and Italian café food: homemade lasagne, toasties and porchetta rolls. On Friday and Saturday evenings it becomes an aperitivo bar, with Italian wines, beers and cocktails, and small plates like bruschetta and arancini.
It opens from 7am to 12.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and again from 4pm to 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. It's closed on Mondays. If you're staying in the back streets of Manly or Fairlight, it's a lovely local café and a relaxed spot for an early-evening spritz.
