The local take
Manly Grill is a steak and seafood restaurant at 31 South Steyne, across the road from the southern end of Manly Beach. The room is rustic, and the outdoor tables look over the promenade to the surf.
The menu is built around the grill: steaks in several cuts and sizes, with matured beef from suppliers the kitchen works with closely, plus pork ribs and seafood for anyone not eating red meat. There's a cocktail and wine list to go with it. It suits families and groups, with highchairs available and wheelchair access.
It's open every day from 12pm to 9pm, so it works for a late lunch straight off the beach as well as for dinner. Book ahead for an outdoor table on a warm evening. It's at the Corso end of the beachfront, a short walk from the wharf, which makes it an easy choice before the ferry back to the city.
