The local take
Bella Vista is a café and Italian kitchen inside the heritage-listed buildings of the North Head Sanctuary, at 33 North Head Scenic Drive, high on the headland above Manly. The view lives up to the name. From the outdoor tables you look back across the harbour towards the city, with the sandstone cliffs all around.
The menu covers a healthy breakfast, the café's own coffee blend, and homemade Italian dishes, traditional and modern, at lunch. You can sit down or take a coffee away. There's also a group set menu, and the café hosts events.
It's open from 9am to 4pm on weekdays and from 8am to 5pm at weekends. There's almost nothing else to eat on North Head, so it's the natural stop on a walk around the headland, the Fairfax Lookouts or the Q Station area. It's a steep walk or a short drive from the village. Book if you want a table at the weekend.
