Manly
The Grand Dining Room
White-tablecloth dining by hospitality students at ICMS.
The local take
The Grand Dining Room is Sydney's most unusual fine-ish dining deal: service and kitchen run by hospitality students of the International College of Management, inside the sandstone landmark on Darley Road that everyone photographs from the beach. Upper-middle prices, 4.0 from travellers, and genuine occasion energy from the heritage room.
The students are being assessed, which means you'll rarely receive more earnest care anywhere. Opening follows the teaching calendar — check before climbing the hill — but a table in 'the castle' above Manly is worth the planning.
