The local take
Noon is the café from Good Good Company, the Manly hospitality group behind Chica Bonita, Sunset Sabi and Busta, and it has the same eye for detail: a sharp, sunny room on Raglan Street a block back from the beach, and a menu that takes breakfast more seriously than the quick-turnover cafés on the sand.
The produce gets named for a reason. At our last check, the bacon and egg roll came on focaccia from Pioik in Pyrmont with Peats Ridge eggs and bacon from Whole Beast Butchery in Marrickville. Mince on toast uses spiced Blackmore wagyu with almonds, currants and crème fraîche, the potato rösti carries house-cured ocean trout and a jammy egg, and the zucchini toast comes with pea pesto and stracciatella. For something sweet there's atayef, Middle Eastern pancakes filled with ricotta and roasted grapes, and the shaken tahini latte with molasses and cinnamon is the drink regulars tell their friends about.
It opens at 6am every day and closes at 2pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends, which suits a coffee straight after an early surf or swim. Weekday mornings are the calm ones; on weekends, get there before nine.
