Banco, on Whistler Street near the old market square, is Manly doing the inner-city wine-bar thing on its own relaxed terms. American- and Australian-leaning plates, a list heavy on interesting pours, and a room small enough that Friday nights hum.

At 4.9 from travellers it's among the best-rated rooms in the village, and the mid-range pricing keeps it in weeknight territory rather than special-occasion-only. Come early or book — Manly has worked out that it doesn't need to cross the bridge for good wine anymore.
