The local take
Fishbowl is a Japanese-inspired salad and poke bar on the Corso, at 37-39 The Corso. The Sydney chain started in Bondi in 2016, and the Manly store brings the same made-to-order format to the middle of the beach strip.
You build a bowl in five steps: a base (sushi rice, brown rice, glass noodles or cabbage), sashimi or another protein, toppings, sauces and garnish. You can also pick one of the set bowls and add extras. Reviewers praise how fresh the ingredients are, though some find portions and seasoning inconsistent.
It's open every day from 11am to 9pm. It's quick, healthy and easy to take away, which makes it a natural lunch to carry down to the sand a minute away, or a light dinner after a day at the beach.
